Attended University of Alabama. Married to Willey Glover Griffin in 1857. Taught school and practiced law in Uniontown and Demopolis Alabama. Confederate staff officer, aide-de-camp to Cadmus Wilcox. Wounded at Frayser's Farm. Wounded again at Gettysburg. Later on the staff of Abner Perrin. Wounded at Spotsylvania on May 12, 1864. He was mortally wounded at the battle of Petersburg on June 22. One month later he succumbed to his wounds.
