The death of Mrs. Adelheide Eden, and old and respected resident f this vicinity was mentioned in this paper last week and further particulars of her life are herewith presented:

Adelheide Christine Jacobs was born April 9, 1839, in Grossherzogtum Oldenburg, Germanu, where she was baptized and confirmed a member of the Lutheran church and always lived a consistent Christian life. In 1862 she married Garmer Eden. They came to America I 1870 and located at Sterling, Ill., where her husband afterward died. In 1894 she and her family came west and located on a farm east of Akron, in Plymouth County, Iowa, which remained their home for a number of years.

Since failing health compelled her to give up housekeeping several years ago, she has made a home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Kleihauer, northeast of here. For about forty-five years she had been afflicted with heart trouble and four or five times she suffered attacks of pneumonia, upon several of which occasions all hope was given up for her recovery. She bore her afflictions with great patience and fortitude. Last November she was taken quite seriously ill and gradually failed, until the end to her sufferings mercifully came on September 11, 1917, at 7:45 p.m., at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 2 days. Left to mourn a kind and affectionate mother are four sons and four daughters—Will, of Orange , Cal.; John, of Alcester, S.D.; Fred and Frank, of Akron, Ia.; Mrs. Henry Kleihauer, Mrs. Ida Ahrens, Mrs. Katie Zachow, of Akron vicinity, and Mrs. Hannah Johnson, of Pulaaki; N. Y. There are also two brothrs, one sister, thirty-five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Many friends offer their sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fred A. Meske in the Akron German Lutheran Church last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. There was a large attendance. The Aid, of which the deceased was an active member, attended in a body. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
