Ethel Elizabeth Thomas Faw, 76, of Albemarle, passed away March 4, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.

There will be a graveside service at Fairview Memorial Park at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Rev. Lowell Brown and Rev. Garry Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends after the burial at the graveside or friends may come by the funeral home to pay their respects Wednesday morning until 12:00 pm.

Born November 13, 1935 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Claude Houston Thomas and the late Carrie Mae Austin Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Earl Faw, March 15, 1991, a brother Everette Thomas and great grandson, Cooper Lee Swink. She is survived by daughters, Vickie Faw Holt, Terry Faw Clontz and Debbie Faw Whitley and husband Tim, all of Albemarle; grandsons, John Clontz of Albemarle, Chris Almond and wife Lindsey of Hawaii, and Chase Morton and wife Shannon of Raleigh; granddaughters, Amber Blalock of Albemarle, Chancey Powe and husband Lamadrez of Fayetteville; great grandchildren, Gage Blalock and Noah Carter, Carson and Cassidy Powe, Brennan Elizabeth Almond; brother, George Thomas of Albemarle and nephews, Scott and Ronnie Thomas.

Ethel was a retired dietician. She was active in her church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, which she loved very much. She taught children's Sunday school, helped with Bible School and Sunday night children's clubs. She attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. When she was no longer able to participate, she would try to help in other ways. During Bible School she would send snacks that would help serve the children and workers for Bible School.
