Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to James Hall and Willa Mae Tatum. Entered into military service, Feb. 13, 1946, as a Private with the US Army Air Forces, serving during World War II and the Korean War, until Mar. 12, 1952. Married Evelyn Hill, March 9, 1954, in Winchester, Virginia, at the age of 23. Together they had at least three known children, including Victor, Michael, and Robert Jr. He later married Martha Pridgen circa 1958. They briefly lived in Brooklyn, New York City, during the early 1960s as together at least two children were born here, Karen and Linda, with daughter Tanya born in 1966 and Venus in 1974. He is the paternal grandfather of American rapper and Grammy nominated musician Logic (Sir Robert Bryson Hall II). His body was found Christmas night, Dec. 25, 1977, in the 500 block of Railroad St and Pear Ct (apprx. 40°20'37.8"N 78°53'16.6"W), East Conemaugh borough, Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was pronounced dead on arrival to Lee Hospital (now Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center - Lee Campus) at 12:30 a.m., Dec. 26. Logic briefly mentions his death in his autobiography, This Bright Future: A Memoir By Bobby Hall:

"Both of my dad's parents were alcoholics. I never met them because they both died long before I was born. My grandfather, as the story goes, went out on Christmas Eve and got shitfaced drunk and as he was coming up the front steps he slipped on the ice, fell back, hit his head on a rock, knocked himself out, and froze to death in the snow. They found him on Christmas morning. Crazy."
