He was educated through the local public school system and entered the United States Air Force where he served for three years.
On May 4, 1951 he married Virginia Anderson Roeder. From this marriage were born two children.
Jack worked for Wheeling Steel Corporation's Ackermann Plant until his death in 1953.
In the early morning hours of October 17th, Jack and friend Don Miller were involved in an automobile accident where they both lost their lives. Jack died immediately and Don died a few days later.
