Virgil was the oldest of eleven children born to Dennis Walker and Sarah Ellen (York) Kivett. He married Vida Harvey and they were the parents of three children: Virgil Tate Jr. 'Jackie', Doris Ann and William Cody.

Graveside service for Virgil Tate Kivette, 88, of 109 S, Holden Road, who died Wednesday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Guilford Memorial Park.
Kivette was a Baptist and a retired employee of Greensboro Manufacturing Co.
Surviving are daughter Mrs. Doris Farthing of Greensboro; sisters, Mrs. Runnie Pope of Greensboro, Mrs. Mamie Whiteside of Forest Hills,. N.Y., Mrs. Edith Hoover of Paradise, Calif. Mrs. Lucy Reno of St. Joseph, Mo.; brother, James Kivette of
Greensboro; four grandchildren.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Street Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today, other times at the residence of the daughter at 3911 Afton Drive.
Memorial contribution may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
