Actress. Rising through the ranks of chorus lines, she began starring in musical comedies. She worked with Fred Astaire in the musical "Stop Flirting," and made her TV debut in the play, "My Mother Said." In 1950 she played Mrs Hooley in the film "Cure For Love," and in 1960 she was cast to play the very soft voiced, but with a fire inside(but only when she had too of course) "Minnie Caldwell" in "Coronation Street," which started her 16 years on one of the longest running "Soaps" in Television history. Her health deteriorated near the end of 1975, and in 1976 when she left Coro Street, she entered a Manchester Nursing home to live out the final thirteen years of her life.
