James E. McCann, Sr.
Chinook--James E. McCann, Sr., active area rancher, died Saturday in Havre at age 80. McCann was a former Blaine county commissioner and had served as director of both the North Montana Stockgrowers Association and Montana Woolgrowers Association.
He was born in Chinook and raised on his family's ranch south of that community. He attended school in Chinook and at the Columbia University in Portland, Ore.
McCann married Kathryn Doheny in North Dakota in 1923. He was a former member of the Chinook school board.
McCann is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Lorenzen, in Washington; and a son, James, Harlem.
Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Chinook.
