Mr. Fred Lewis Ayers, age 90, of Eastanollee, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born December 4, 1921 in Franklin County, he was a son of the late Samuel Ero and Gladys Taylor Ayers.
He was a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church and was retired from WABCO. Mr. Ayers was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband.
Family members include daughter and son-in-law, Eva and David McJunkin; granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Scott Elmer; great-grandchildren, Gabe Elmer and Aniston Elmer; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Annie Jim Ayers; a sister-in-law, Vera Mae Ayers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Gibby Ayers; brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul William and Hazel Ayers and John Ayers; a sister, Mary Grace Ayers
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Whitlock Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Clack Stubbs and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
Entombment followed at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, David McJunkin, Scott Elmer, Dan Ayers, Charlton Ayers, Terry Free and Roy Lee McCurley.
Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
