John A. Rowe married M. Susan "Susie" Field in 1888. She was a daughter of Rev. Daniel Early Field and his first wife Jane Hopper Lane. They had four children, but I only have three names, as one was a baby that died young. The children I have were: Lelia Field Rowe (11 March 1893-July 1971, Mrs. Raphael), John Abram Rowe, Jr. (29 Jan. 1896-20 Feb. 1990, m. Floy Ethel Armstrong), and George Daniel Rowe (7 Nov. 1897-11 Nov. 1962, m. Mary Alice Emery).
From a biography of John A. Rowe, "As his business success became assured Mr. Rowe became more active in civic affairs, and was a member of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, was president of the Bedford Rural Loan & Savings Association, a director of the Bedford National Bank, and a
member of the Rotary Club and the Country Club. For years he was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church." The biography can be found at:

Many thanks to Nan, who created this memorial and kindly transferred it to me, and who also provided the tombstone pictures.
