Son of Gilbert & Emma (Wright) Miner. He was 5' 9" tall, slim, with dark brown hair and blue eyes.

He served his country during the Spanish-American War as a private in the Seventh Ohio Infantry Regiment.

He was married to Minnie Stanley in Union county, Ohio on October 20, 1901, who survived him. He started his married life as a butcher in his father's footsteps, living in Hebron, but later the family moved to Columbus where he was a decorator.

Tom was a member of the Church of Christ, disciples, in Hebron, Ohio.
