Funeral services for John D. Barnette, 69, of 119 Menefee Court, Cordova, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, at
Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Mark Altman and the Rev. Steven McDaniel officiating.
Burial will be in the Smoaks Family Cemetery in Cordova.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Josh Fanning, Gerald Mills, Mike Weygant, Donald Kemmerlin and Brad Warner.
Mr. Barnette died Friday, May 11, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. He was born August 9, 1937, in Russellville, the son of the late John D. Barnette Sr. and the late Sally Wilson Barnette. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Harley Barnette. He was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Lionel (Jeannie) Gartman and Mrs. Steve (Scheral) Fanning, both of Neeses, Mrs. Wanda McDougal, of Orangeburg; one brother, Clyde F. (Rita) Barnette, of St. Stephens; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Irene) Blankenship, of Moncks Corner; life partner, Elizabeth McBratnie and daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Phyllis) Mills, of Branchville, Mrs. Anne Henry, of Cordova; seven grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at his residence, 119 Menefee Court, Cordova and at the residence of his daughter, Scheral (Sherry) Fanning, 144 Shortleaf Road, Neeses and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.
