Red earned a degree in civil engineering in 1933 from the University of Texas and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Red was a pioneer in the exploration, mapping and development of the Atchafalaya Basin that brought bridges to the rural population of the state of Louisiana. He worked for several oil companies in Louisiana and Texas and retired from Gulf Oil-Houston in 1973 where he worked for 20 years. He then moved to New Braunfels to be in the hill-country he so loved. Red will be missed by all that touched his long beautiful life."
