Graveside Funeral services were held for Dorothy Louise Wilson, 75, of Athens, on Sunday October 24, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens. Officiating was Rev. Ray Gobel .
She went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Athens.
Dorothy was born February 26, 1935 in Athens to Joseph and Mable Johnson Reed. She married J.W. Wilson on April 14, 1951. She resided in Athens all of her life and enjoyed drinking her coffee and watching her grandkids grow up. She also loved her church, Virgina Hills Baptist, and enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include: her husband, J.W. Wilson of Athens; two daughters, Dorothy Scruggs, and Debra Ramsey both of Athens; son, Joseph Wilson of Lubbock, TX.; sisters, Marie Henson and Diane & Buck Harris, all of Athens; five grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Lacey Scruggs, Christi Scruggs, Jason Ramsey, Jordyn Wilson and Joshua Wilson; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Scruggs, Zachary Scruggs, Jacob Scruggs, Aubrey Scruggs and Haley Scruggs.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dorothy's special buddy, Kathy, who helped take of her. Also to the staff at Genesis Hospice for there help taking care of Dorothy.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
