SERVICES THURSDAY
Chester Parsons, 83, of 708 S 11th St., Herrin, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday in the Mattingly Nursing Home, Herrin.
He was born Aug 28, 1881 east of Herrin, the son of John and Mary Watson Parsons. He was a member of the Herrin First Baptist Church. He was a retired electrician.
He leaves a daughter, Mes Roy Sharp of Florham Park, N J; a granddaughter, Carolyn Sharp and several nieces and nephews.
He had made his home the past four years with his niece, Mrs Mildred Gilkey of Herrin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the George Van Natta Funeral Home, Herrin. Rev Ben R Stripling will officiate. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
