Moving here from North Carolina in the early 1930s, Ethel and Edgar Bringle made their home on Vernon Street near Cleveland Park. When they moved to the area, the street that they lived on was mostly woods on the side of the street nearest today's Asheville Hwy. Edgar worked and retired from Southern Railways. In 1965, he failed to overcome cancer of the bladder. Ethel lived on Vernon Street her remaining days and enjoyed the company of her many neighbors now long gone to the area. She lived a full and rewarding life.
