Clarence Harry Welker, 79, of 109 Welker Lane, Gratz, died Wednesday, June 6, at his residence.

Mr. Welker was born in Lykens Twp., on November 3, 1927, the son of the late Harry E. and Elverda (Kissinger) Welker.

He was the husband of Lillian Alice (Shade) Welker, who preceded him in death in 2004.

He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz; and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War; He worked as a farmer; was a charter member of the Gratz Lykens Twp., VFW Post 2385; charter member of Gratz Area Antique Machinery Association; lifetime member of the Gratz Fire Company; and member of the Gratz Fair Board. He was the former tax collector for Lykens Twp., for 31 years.

He was a graduate of the Class of 1946 of Hegins Township High School.

He is survived by two sons, Ricky E. Welker of Gratz and Harry E. Welker of Gratz; 3 sisters, Helen Yergo of Elizabethville, Arlayne Kobel of Gratz, and Hannah Klinger of Halifax. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Religious Services were held at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz on Saturday, June 9, with Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Gratz Union Cemetery, Gratz. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, was in charge of the services.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 98 South Enola Drive, Enola, PA 17025.
