Died 7:10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 1986, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 81, a native of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and noon to 1:40 p.m. Monday. Religious services at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Sandy Anderson. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by wife, Beverly Mitchell Harris, Baton Rouge; two sons, Samuel H. Harris Jr., Baton Rouge, and the Rev. Terrence Manville Harris, Little Rock, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Leta Huckaby, Baton Rouge, and Theresa Kofnovec, Garland, Texas; a brother, James Harris, Lafayette, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchid; numerous niecesand nephews. Preceded in death by first wife, Katherine M. Harris. Pallbearers will be Tom Savage, Lewis Carter, Al Duby, Marvin Hughes, C.B. Knight, David Coughlin. Honorary pallbearers are George Mounger, Clarence Roberts, Don Hartquist, Ronny Welch, Wayne Kofnovec, Mahlon Robert Harris, Timothy and Christopher Harris. He was a charter member Trinity Episcopal Church and a member of Downtown Lions' Club. Family request donations be made to a favority charity.
