Mary Ellen's father was from Germany and her mother was from Ireland. Her mother's Irish parents were Hugh and Ann McGuire. They lived next door to Anne and John Eichler. Hugh and Ann died of disease when Mary (Mary Ellen's mother) was eleven. The neighbors liked her so much they took her into their own family. They had a son John Eichler. Mary ended up getting married to John Eichler! Mary and John Eichler had a daughter Mary Ellen Eichler.

Mary Ellen owned a candy store in Bayonne and later worked keeping house for several family members. She lived out her final years with her son John, daughter in law Nettie, and their two children John and Helen. They lived in a tri-level home in Bayonne. Mary Ellen was remembered as a very hard worker. Her daughter Elsie also lived with the family until her death.

Mary Ellen's husband, John E Meyers, unfortunately died young. Mary Ellen always would say "he was a wonderful man, that John Meyers, but he wasn't good with money". When he died, he left her with money owed to venders who serviced his Pub in Bayonne. He was known to give too much credit to folks down on their luck...
