Les returned to the mines at Peabody #10 shortly after the Midland job. While living in Illinois he and Alma went to a tent revival. They both accepted Jesus Christ as their savior that summer of 1950. They attended the Pawnee Assembly of God Church but since they did not have a baptistry, Brother Jaggers arranged for them to be baptized at a sister church in Springfield, IL. They later attended a Methodist church until they moved to Hobart, Oklahoma in 1953.

They moved several times within the state and ultimately settled in Clinton, OK in 1955. His first self-employed business was a Mobil Service Station which he owned and operated from Jan. 1, 1956 for 14 years. He then worked at the Kellwood plant for one year in Clinton, OK.

Entrepreneurship and service station operations still in his blood, Les opened a Kerr McGee Station and operated it for two years and a Standard Service Station for 14 years, rounding out 30 years in the service station business.

Retirement in sight, he and Alma moved to Noble, OK in 1981. They joined First Baptist Church in Noble, OK and were active in many ways. He then worked for Walmart in Norman for 16 years until 1998, when he had to have bypass surgery. He then moved in with his son Robert at 79 years old and enjoyed taking life easy, enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He moved with them to Flower Mound, TX in 2006.
