Elizabeth Fredericks Fullmer Achenbach, 92, a resident of Pine Haven, Lock Haven, passed away at the Lock Haven Hospital Friday, Jan 2, 2004. Born Oct. 17, 1911 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Dr. Brian and Lucy Fredericks Fullmer. She grew up in Emporium where she often lived with her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Brian Fullmer Sr. She graduated from Lock Haven Normal School (now Lock Haven University) in 1934 and taught first grade in Avis the beginning of a teaching career that lasted for 30 years. She married Gen. Hall F. Achenbach in 1936. They had a marriage that lasted 65 years. The General passed away in 2002. They had moved many times during Hall's Air Force career. In addition to this busy life, she was involved in many community activities. Elizabeth had time to write four books; a series co-authored by Becky Gross called A Peek at the Past. She wrote The Final Peek herself. All proceeds from the sale of the books went to the Ross Library. She was a member and past Regent of the Col. Hugh White DAR Chapter, a Red Cross volunteer, a Girl Scout leader, a patron of the Millbrook Playhouse, and an active Republican interested in local politics, a member of the Historical Society, a member of the Clinton Country Club and a member of the Great Island Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Sally Platt Lawrence Circle. All agree that she gave more than she received and that most importantly, she gave unconditional love and joy to her family and vast circle of friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Lucianne Wood of Natchez, Miss. and Holly Yohe of Williamsburg, Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at the Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Ross Library. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
