Allene Richter "Leenie" went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28,2012. She was born Myrtle Allene Tinney Aug. 25, 1922 at Lueders, Jones Co., Texas to Elbert Larkin & Elizabeth Eden Combest Tinney. She later removed "Myrtle" from her name and became known as Allene Tinney Richter.
Allene first married 1st Lt. Sheldon Cohen Craigmyle in 1943, who perished in a plane crash in Scotland in 1949 during WWII. She then married Ralph "Babe" Landers Hearrell in 1950. After 23 years of marriage, Babe died in 1973. In 1974 she married Joseph T. Richter who died suddenly in 2000.
Like her siblings, Allene had many special talents. She modeled and sang professionally for a number of years before being saved and becoming a member of a local church where she sang for the Lord. It was a joy talking with her because something you'd say would trigger a song, out of the blue she'd just start singing. Everything she did reminded her in some way, of a song.
She loved gardening. She could make anything grow. Her yards were the most beautiful in the neighborhood for many years.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She could be creative beyond your wildest dreams. She and her sister Alice were called upon many times to make costumes, floral arrangements or make decorations for local churches, businesses or for the military. Whatever the event, Allene could be depended upon to make it the most decorated event ever.
She loved to entertain. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do. Her kitchen and a 10 foot table at her home was a meeting place for family, evangelist, missionaries and many friends and young people or anyone who needed comfort and a meal. You could depend on her daily to fill it from end to end with her homemade gourmet foods. Besides her Bible, a cookbook was her favorite reading material.
She made wonderful memories for many children and those around her. She took into her home her brother's children and welcomed anyone who needed comfort in the Lord. Like her precious mother, she was a prayer warrior. Not having any children of her own, one could say she had lots of children everywhere.
Besides her husband's and parents, preceding her in death were her brothers Walter, Jim, Isaac, Lee, Troy, and George Tinney; her sister Alice Snead; nephew Kerry Tinney; and stepdaughter, Rhonda Richter Wheeler
Survivors include stepdaughter; Merissa Richter Swink; nieces and nephews; Fred (Shirley) Tinney of San Angelo; Gwen Bradshaw of Nebraska; Tamera (Richard) Caine of Visalia, Ca.; Wesley (Kathy) Tinney of San Angelo; Sandra Englund of Visalia, Ca.; Ray (Kay) Tinney of Floydada, Texas, Jim (Renee) Tinney of Oklahoma; Sharon (Richard) White of Idaho; Joanie (Vernon) Rhodes; Joyce Nichols and Verna Brents all of Arkansas; Delbert (Karen) Tinney of Exeter, Ca.; and many other nieces and nephews who live in California. Grandchildren from her third marriage include; Jennifer and Allison Swink; Meghan & Joey Wheeler all of San Angelo, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews; longtime friends Edward & Melba Moellar; Bernice Rogers all of San Angelo.
A huge and heartfelt thanks to Anita Rivera who lived with her and became more like a sister rather than a caregiver. The family thanks you for your loving devotion and companionship. We'd also like to thank Anita's son Martin, Sr. and grandson's Martin, Jr. & Stevie for the love and care shown to her.
Thanks to her great niece & caregiver, Shawna Russell (Michael) and their daughters Harmony Marie & Isabell Allene for their loving visits and bringing fresh flowers that she looked forward to each and every visit; to her great niece, Maureen, who lovingly made her look beautiful every week. To her special nephew, Wes, who adored her as much as she did him. To Dave Gosney of Palm Springs, Ca. who visited her as often as he could and pampered her as if she were his mother.
Thanks to those who gave care and love, especially her nurses Brenda & Candy; Dorothy who spent so much personal time with her, and to Odyssey who were so loving in their care. You all were truly a blessing to her. She looked forward to seeing each of you every week.
And to all those who came home to see her or call to say "hello", she loved hearing from all of you. Her family thanks you all for putting a smile on her face and warmth in her heart for remembering her.
She will be missed by those who loved her.
