William S. Lilly (1), son of Robert and Frances (Moody) Lilly of Bluestone River, was married three times.
His first wife was a Burke,his second wife a Crawford, his third a Shumate.

William S. Lilly (1) first settled in the Territory of Upper Louisiana in the District of St. Louis, where he lived for a number of years. In 1817, he moved back to his father's farm on Big Bluestone River, then in Giles County, Virgi nia, now Summers County, WV. The records show that this farm was deeded to William by his
father in 1817, and was later owned by William's son, Joseph (Curley Joe)Lilly.

William S. Lilly (1) was the father of fourteen children:
1- Elizabeth Lilly married William Neely in 1829. They were the parents of two children: William, and Levi.

2- Arminger (Ameger) Lilly was reared and educated in Louisiana and later settled in that region.

3- Robert (Fighting Bob) Lilly, who lived and died in Louisiana.

4- Andrew Lilly (Sock Head Andy), married Marinda Walker, and their children were: Jane, who married a Sesler; Celia, who married a Sowder;Dolly, who married a holly; Vasty, who married a Plumley; Lera, who married a Lilly; Linda, who married a Canterberry; and Sarah, who married
a Lilly. Mrs. Sesler lived to be over one hundred years old.

5- Polly Lilly married Flim Meador and they settled in Summers County.

6- Tollison Lilly married a Cales and they settled in Summers County.
They were the parents of seven children: George A., James W., Rufus,Sarah, who married a Garten; Eliza, who married a Willey; Cynthia, who married a Persi nger; and Amanda who married a Mitchel.

7- George Lilly, who never married.

8 - William S. Lilly (2), known as Shoemaker Bill:, ex-sheriff of Summers County, owned a large farm near Jumping Branch, WV. William was marrie d twice. His first wife was a Miss Halstead, and his second wife was Amanda Woodrum. He was the father of six children; Green Lee, who married a Clark; Alwilda, no data; Alice, who married a Ryan; Nancy, who married a Hugart; Ser epta, who married a Fox; Cleora, who married a Light.

9- Nancy Lilly married Frank Lane and they settled near Mount View, WV. Their children were: Nancy, Mary, and Frank.

10- Samuel Lilly and wife were the parents of the following children:William (Blind Billy), Richard, Jane, Ben, and Elizabeth.

11- Frances Lilly married James C. (Chap) Wills and their children were: William R., Mary E., Erastus, Lydia, Green, Sarah E., James C., Jr., Lee J., and Lusania F.

12- Joseph (Curley Joe) Lilly, ex-comissioner of Summers County , owned the original Robert Lilly farm on Big Bluestone River. Joseph married Marinda Meador, a daughter of Green W. and Emily (Walker) Meador. They were the parents of nine children: William, Joe, Stella, who married a Hedrick ; Emily, who married a Lilly, Nettie, who married a Dodson; Leona, who marrie d a Farley; Mandona, who married a Lilly; Rosetta, who married a Dodson, and Flora, who married a Cooper.

13- Green Lilly, no data.

14- James (Grinning Jim) Lilly, who married and became the father of the following children: Everette, Arthur, Belle, who married a Brammer; Allie, who married a Lilly; Natie, who married a Harvey; and Vertie, who married a Farley.
