MCCLURE - Eunice M. Ewing, 91, of RR2 McClure, passed away at 8:10 p.m. May 27, 2003, at the Sunbury Community Hospital. She had been a resident at Penn Lutheran Village for the past 7 years.

Born May 30, 1911, in Siglerville, she was a daughter of the late Orris W. and Eva (Barger) Pecht. On June 2, 1934, she married the late Spencer E. Ewing, who passed away April 10, 1993.

Surviving are: two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor M. and Gary L. Crawford, Middletown and Bonnie E. and Terry H. Hack, Harrisburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Anita M. Ewing, Roanoke, VA; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Dorothy E. Pecht, Milroy.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly J. Ewing in 1975, three sisters, Bertha Pecht, Helen Knepp and Katharine Jochen.

She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure, where she participated in the Pollyanna Class and the Women's Guild.

She graduated from Milroy High School in 1928. In 1930, she received her teaching certificate from Shippensburg Normal School and began her teaching career in the one-room Fairview School. She taught several years in West Beaver School District and continued substituting into the 1970's with the Midd-West School District. She was a member of the Beaver Springs Senior Center, and enjoyed planning their activities. She enjoyed her family, helping others, crocheting, knitting, reading and was a big Nittany Lion fan.

Her funeral service will be at at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ with Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in McClure Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today in the McClure Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, N. Brown St., McClure, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.
