The story told by Jackie's sister was that he fell sick and the family had no money to transport him to the hospital so they called the county doctor who made house calls. That person had social obligations at the Country Club that he tended to before making a stop at the home of Jackie's widowed mother and siblings. Unfortunately by that time it was too late for little Jackie. Charges were brought against the doctor for negligence and he was found guilty but no amount of money could replace this little life that was cut short. He was buried next to his father Roy who had died almost two years before. Jackie's loss was mourned forever by his mother Elda, older sisters Virginia, June, and Phyllis along with his older brother Harold.
