U.S. Congressman. He engaged as a civil engineer, surveying fuel lands in Ohio and West Virginia, (1910-11). Graduating from the law department of Ohio State University, in 1914, he was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Troy, Ohio. During World War I, he served as a Private in U.S. Army Infantry. After the war, he was a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives, (1921-25). In 1938, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Frank L. Kloeb, serving until 1939. Not a candidate for nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 52.
