"Robert Bering, Signal Hill Oil Promoter, Dies

Robert E. Bering, 63, owner of oil properties in California, died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a long illness.

One of the founders of Signal Hill, Mr. Bering was part-owner of the Geyser Development Co. in San Francisco, which has pioneered in converting steam into electricity.

A petroleum engineer and oil promoter, Mr. Bering made his home for years at 658 Nims Rd. in Bel-Air. He was a graduate of the University of California and belonged to Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and the University Club of Los Angeles.

Mr. Bering leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Manley, of Modesto; a son, Marc Bering, of Bel-Air; two brothers, Lee Bering of Palm Springs, and Lou Bering of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Tremaine, of beverly Hills."

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.mm. tomorrow at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Hollywood Hills."
