Melvin served as a Technician Fifth Grade, Company C, 1314th Engineers, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in the District of Columbia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 6, 1943 at Fort Myer, Virginia. He was noted as being employed as a Driver and also as Married.

He died in the "Line Of Duty" in a Non-Battle related incident during the war.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on July 14, 1948.
