Joe graduated from Hennessey High School and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps 81st Squadron of the 436th Troop Carrier Division as a glider pilot in WWII. He married Mary L. Brawner in Hennessey.
Joe was a real estate broker and auctioneer in Hennessey for over forty years. He served four terms on the Town of Hennessey Board of Trustees and was Mayor seven of those years. He was a member of the VFW and the Grange, was a charter member of Hennessey Celebration, Inc. and was a past President of the group. Joe was also Grand Marshal of the Pat Hennessy day parade.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary of the home; one son, James D. "Jim" Hickey of Waukomis; three brothers, Ray Hickey of Stillwater, Harold Hickey of Winfield, Louisiana, Richard Hickey of Hennessey and one grandson, John Hickey of Enid.
His parents, one sister, Patricia Harn and his daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hickey, preceded Joe in death.
