There appear to have been two John Inglestons who fought in the Civil War. One served in Co E of the 4th VT infantry, was discharged on disability and died in 1864. The other served in Co B of the 11th VT infantry and died in 1865. The headstone combines the date of death of the former with the service record of the latter.
