He was born on Aug. 13, 1918, in Salem, Ore., the son of Michael and Natalia (Grabowski) Schwarz. Anthony served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was married on Oct. 11, 1947, to the former Mary Greenheck. Anthony loved gardening, tending to his grapes and apples and making homemade wine. He is a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Spring Green, and the Spring Green American Legion Post No. 253.
Survivors include his 12 children, of Spring Green, Richland Center, Sauk City, DeForest, Mineral Point, Richland Center, Plain, Spring Green, Middleton, and Sauk City; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, of Cross Plains, Verona, and a brother, of Sauk City; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Natalia Schwarz; his wife, Mary Schwarz; five siblings, Adeline Schwarz, Ed Schwarz, Frances Hein, Jen Meinholz and Joseph Schwarz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Spring Green with burial in the St. Kilian's Catholic Cemetery in Bear Valley, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Spring Green American Legion Post No. 253.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
