SPRINGFIELD - Steve Rogers Jr., 65, of Walnut St., Springfield, departed this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Winston-Salem, NC. Born in Natchez, MS, he was a son of Steve and Eva (Bond) Rogers Sr. Mr. Rogers was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army and had been employed by Package Machinery in East Longmeadow, and the Riverwalk Casino in Vicksburg, MS. He was a Mason and in his younger days, he was an avid fisherman and loved to play baseball and basketball. Predeceased by his parents and a son, Kevin A. Rogers, he is survived by five children, Jonathan R. McCullough of Surprise, AZ, Shawn (and Michelle) Rogers and Kathleen Rogers, both of Springfield; and Aaron M. (and Jeanine) Rogers and Christina R. (and Duncan) Rogers, both of High Point, NC; two brothers, Jerry Rogers of Natchez, MS and Vincent Rogers of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Doris of Indiana and Pamela Faye Wright of Natchez; three aunts, Lula (and Mark) James and Myra Washington, both of Natchez and Dora Richardson of Medville, MS; an uncle, Rev. Luther (and Bessie) Barnes Jr. of Medville; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at noon, with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
