He attended college before entering the work force, working for IBM for 25 years. He then worked at Down Under Connections in Marietta, GA as a systems & business manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Edward Parker, sister-in-law, Betty Parker, niece, Jeannette (Parker) Jensen, great niece, Julie Louise Jensen, and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by 5 nieces, Karen Walburn and her husband, Gary, Laura Snider and her husband, Ralph, Linda Roller and her husband, Brian, all of Ottawa, KS, Wynnie Young, and her husband, Larry, of Osawatomie, KS, and Susan Higbee and her husband, Troy, of Riverside, CA; 4 nephews, Wayne Parker, and his wife, Judy, of Belton, TX, John Parker and his wife, Lavon, of Ellis, KS, Martin Parker and Rick Parker, both of Ottawa; a 1st cousin, Peggy Taylor and her husband, Doyle, of Corvallis, OR; a close friend, Sherry Edmund of Mt. Vernon, IA; and many great nieces and nephews and second and third cousins.
He was cremated. A family graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wed., March 7th, 2012, at Evergreen Mound Cemetery in rural Ottawa, Kansas. Dengel & Son Mortuary of Ottawa in charge of local arrangements.
