Donald James Flaming was killed in a car accident.
Donald James Fleming was born Oct 3, 1925 in Manchester Depot. He was the son of Ralph Sr. and Edna (Demars) Fleming. A 1943 graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Dec 7, 1943 and served in the European theater in World War II. The holder of the Purple Heart, he fought in the Battle of Rhineland.
On June 22, 1946 he married the former Susan Stannard in St. Paul's Church in Manchester.
Mr. Fleming was a self-employed electrician. He belonged to St. Paul's Church and was a member of American Legion Post of Manchester Depot.
Survivors besides his wife and mother are three sons, James D. of South Londondery, Jeffrey A. and Randy C. Fleming, both of Manchester Center; four brothers, Ralph and Reid Fleming, both of Manchester; Richard of Rome, N.Y. and Thomas of Bethany, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Edith) Hanlon and Mrs. Vincent (Katherine) Sendra, both of Manchester Depot and Mrs. Virginia Derby of Albany, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 am Friday with a prayer at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester Center and in St. Paul's Church in Manchester Center at 10 when the Mass of the Resurrection will be offered by the pastor, the Rev. Martin Clancy. Interment will be in Dellwood Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30.
