Lester Clyne passed away quietly on February 22, 2012 at Park River Estates nursing home in Coon Rapids. He was eighty-six years old. Lester is survived by his wife Jeanette, his daughter Mary Dorholt and her husband Dan, and his two grandchildren, Lyndsey and Jack. He also is survived by his sister Charlotte and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Lester was born in Beroun, Minnesota on December 8, 1925. He grew up in the Pine City area and Delano and in 1943 enlisted in the Marines at age 17. He was an aircraft repairman in the Marine Air Corps, stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines. Following his return home from service duty, he married the love of his live and his childhood sweetheart Jeanette McPadden on December 1, 1948. They spent most of their married life living in Coon Rapids, and in 1965 their daughter Mary was born. Lester spent most of his working career at Waco Scaffolding, where he was a construction foreman. He retired in 1987. He became a doting grandfather to Lyndsey in 2000, followed in 2001 by Jack.

We will remember so many wonderful things about Lester. His family meant everything to him and he was loyal to a fault. He loved to tell stories about his time growing up on the farm, his golden gloves boxing, and his service career. He was mischievous in his younger years - known as "Skipper" by the local police in Delano. Horses and hunting were passions at various points in his life. He was determined, and stubborn, and kind and generous. He was a baseball and boxing fan, and an avid gardener. Lester could fix anything, and if he couldn't…he'd figure out how to. He loved children ("Can Lester come and play?" was a common question at the back door), and his grandchildren were his shining stars in his later years.

We quietly salute all he has added to our lives, and we will miss him greatly.

Please join Lester's family for a celebration of his life on Friday, March 9 at Faith Lutheran Church, 11115 Hanson Boulevard in Coon Rapids. Visitation will be at 10a.m. with a service at 11a.m., and we invite you to join us for lunch at the church following the service. No flowers please, memorials are preferred to Feed My Starving Children.
