Rom E. Aldridge, age 85, of 171 Taylor Road, Boone, the Foscoe Community died Friday, February 24, 2012.
Mr. Aldridge was born April 30, 1926 in Watauga County. He was a retired sawmill operator and construction worker for Greene Construction Company. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Hazel Triplett Aldridge of the home, two daughters, Mary Moretz and husband Joe of Boone, Shirley Hicks and husband Robert of Vilas, five sons, Jerry Aldridge and wife Marie of Boone, Len Aldridge and wife Eva of Boone, Billy Aldridge and wife Brenda of Deep Gap, Rick Aldridge and wife Kathy of Cosby, TN, Eddie Aldridge and wife Kim of Boone, two step-daughters, Sylvia Watson and husband Chester, and Wattula Wilson and husband Scott, both of Granite Falls, NC. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Townsend Aldridge, one daughter, Deborah Irene Aldridge, his father and mother, Lewis Davidson Aldridge and Bertha Mae Moody Aldridge, four sisters, Lora Murray, Ginny Ellis, Charlotte and Essie Jestes, and seven brothers Leonard Aldridge, Ray Aldridge, Joe Aldridge, Spencer Aldridge, Lewis Aldridge, Jesse Aldridge and Ralph Aldridge, one step-daughter, Linda Elaine Watson, and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Harmon.
