Mildred D. Patterson, 85, of Nampa, died peacefully at a Caldwell assisted living home on Saturday, October 28, 2000. Mildred was born on May 7, 1915, in Cortez, Colorado. Her family moved to western Nebraska and later to Yoder, Wyoming. She graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class and then went on to Chadron, Nebraska Normal School. She taught school for two years before marrying Ivan George Patterson on June 3, 1934, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where they made their home until 1953 when they moved to Bonners Ferry. She taught school for a year in Bonners Ferry. In 1956 they moved to Nampa and she continued teaching in what is now known as the Vallivue School District. At age 50 she received her BA degree from NNC in elementary education. Mildred retired from teaching in 1977. Following her retirement she and Ivan traveled extensively in their fifth wheel trailer and were also active in their senior citizen organization activities. Mildred and Ivan were active in square dance calling and instruction when they lived in Nebraska and Bonners Ferry. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the Nampa 1st Christian Church.

Mildred is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Janet Patterson, Nampa; her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Cleve Gillogly, Nampa; four grandchildren, Linda, Cheryl, Mike and Scott; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Berger, Denver, CO; a brother, Bill Douglas, Phoenix, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews. Two special nieces to her were Linda and Nancy Berger. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene Davis and a niece.
