Mrs. Lydia Mae Bartlett, 83, of Ava, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

She was born in Levan Township in 1877, and lived in the Ava area most of her life.

The former Lydia Mae Pierson, she was married in 1893 to Frank Bartlett. who died in 1939.

Mrs. Bartlett leaves daughters Mrs. Fern MacLeannan of San Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Verhine of Springfield; sons Robert of Belleville and William of Carbondale; eight grand children and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Susie Hall of Ava and a brother, John Pierson of St. Louis. A daughter, Mrs. Josephine Imhoff, and a son, Jack, preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava after 1 p.m. Friday until services Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery.
