Lucy Belle Hardy-Rogers of Southaven, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at a local nursing facility. She was 90.

Lucy was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church and a resident of Memphis for most of her life. She was born January 13, 1920 in rural Mississippi, the daughter of Charles & Floy Crouch.

During her life, she enjoyed working as a real estate agent. She also worked at Hunter Fan and Dixico-Bryce. Unsatisfied with retirement, she worked for several years at the Sams Wholesale Club in Raleigh where she enjoyed meeting new people.

Lucy enjoyed collecting dolls, gardening, cooking, and ceramics.

She also found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who have called her Momaw.


Lucy was married 3 times during her life. Her first marriage to Owen T. Hardy produced three sons: Seth, Joe, & Gene.

After being widowed at a young age, she married James Reid and relocated to Birmingham, Alabama where she became known as a gracious hostess.

After divorcing Reid, she moved back to Memphis where she enjoyed life to the fullest.

Later in her life, she married Jesse Rogers.

While married to Rogers, she suffered partial paralysis from a stroke and later became a widow for the last time.

In addition to her parents, she is preceeded in death by her brothers Charlie, Homer, Bob, & Paul and her three sons, Seth, Joe, and Gene Hardy.

She leaves behind two daughter-in-laws, three grandchildren, and three great children. Lucy is survived by her brother & sister-in-law; Russell & Delores Crouch, and two sisters; Virginia Swanson & Sara Theissen. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Lucy Bell Hardy-Rogers was a loving, kind, faith-driven woman. She left her mark on the world by touching lives and moving mountains with her prayers and love for others.
