Hoyt Dale Carroll

Hoyt Dale Carroll, 85, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died March 6, 2004, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born May 1, 1918, in Carter County, Okla., he was the son of James Samuel Carroll and Maggie Bare Carroll.

He married Doris Everett in Nov. 22, 1933, in Lovington, N.M. He was a Southern Baptist minister, having held churches in Arkansas and Oklahoma since 1965. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marines, and later the Army Transport for 18 months in the South Pacific Theater.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Carroll of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Eloise Valouch and husband Robert of Norman, Okla., and Janice Stellmon and husband Frank of Siloam Springs; one son, Bill Carroll and wife Susan of Mustang, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorease Armstrong and husband Freeman of Ardmore, Okla., and Vera Johnson of Lawton, Okla.

Services were held March 9 with the Revs. Larry Smith and Don Warford officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
