BURT BOURN
SHAFTSBURY - Burt Bourn, 71, of Sodom Road, Shaftsbury, died at Putnam Memorial Hospital Friday, after a long illness. A veteran of World War I, he had served overseas in the U.S. Army Infantry.
Born in WInhall Jan 23, 1894, he was a son of Dwight and Laura (Day) Bourn. He had attended Winhall schools. He had been employed at Ben Mont in Bennington, retiring several years ago because of ill health. His marriage to the former Nina Wilder at Peru took place Nov 28, 1919.
Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Everett (Nina) Maxhaim of Bennington; Miss Marion Bourn of North Bennington; Mrs. Ralph (Bertha) Shores of Plymouth, Conn.; Miss Emily Bourn and Miss Patricia Bourn, both of North Bennington; eight sons; Raymond Bourn of Pownal, Robert of North Bennington, Gerald and Edward of Bennington, Donald of North Bennington, Carroll of Bennington, Roger and Millard, both of North Bennington; one brother, Dwight Bourn of Wells; two sisters, Mrs. Delia Robins of Keene, N.H. and Mrs. Sally Capen of Jamaica, Vt.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home this afternoon with the Rev. W. Earle Forman, pastor of the Church of God, officiating. Entombment was in Park Lawn Chapel. Burial will be in the Bondville Cemetery in the spring.
