Thomas Alden was one of twelve children born to Daniel Alden and Joanna Tilson Alden. Thomas was married to Julia Ann Walker in Belchertown on 23 Sep 1850. They removed to Kane County, Illinois where Thomas farmed. Julia had many relatives in the area, also in Kendall County. They were parents of three children: Julia Elizabeth who never married, George Thomas and Harriet W. Alden.
Daughter Julia Elizabeth was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, Illinois.

"Died: In this city, at his late home on Pine Street, at 6 o'clock Sunday evening, Thomas Alden, aged 69 years. His disease was nervous debility.
Funeral services at the house at ten o'clock, Tuesday morning. His remains will be taken to Belchertown, Mass., for burial. Mr. E. Walker, of Oswego, will accompany the remains."
Daughter Julia Elizabeth was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, Illinois.
