Runk, who resided at Shirleysburg R.D., died at 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 1969, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, where he had been a patient for two days.
He was born on June 21, 1896, at Three Springs R.D., a son of Washington and Agenith (Shope) Runk. On January 21, 1929, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Elizabeth James of Rockhill Furnace at her home by the Rev. William Weaver.
Runk's wife survives along with three children: Mrs. Earl (Catherine) Shaffer of Bedford, Stanford at home and Mrs. Ronald (Isabel) Hoch of Mount Union R.D. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Surviving brothers and sisters are: David of Mount Union R.D., Mrs. Agnes McKim of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Cramer of Mount Union and Samuel of Mount Union R.D.
Run was a member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren in Shirleysburg R.D., and during his life he served as a senior deacon in his church. Runk was also engaged in farming and dairying.
The Rev. David C. Emerson of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton, R.D., and the Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin of Rockhill Furnace Church of the Brethren will officiate at the funeral services in the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren on Saturday. Interment will be made at the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.D.
Friends may call at the Ott Funeral Home, Orbisonia, from 7 p.m. Thursday to 11 a.m. on Saturday and at the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren from noon on Saturday until the hour of the services.
