Mary Alice Mojica Espinoza was born in Lockhart, Texas, to Blas V. Mojica and Nasaria Salazar Mojica on Nov. 16, 1940. She went to rest with our Heavenly Father Feb. 22, 2012. She will be placed to rest in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery. Funeral services for Licha will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Officiating the Mass of Resurrection will be Msgr. David Cruz. Rosary services will be at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Licha was a community leader and a pioneer who believed in equal rights, education and the right to vote. She went from house to house registering people to vote and taking them to the polls if she had to get them there. She served her community in many ways. She was a den mother for the boy scouts for many years, and served as an officer for P.T.A. at Tubbs Elementary. She served at Our Lady of Grace and was a Cursillista for several years. She was liked for her friendliness and her kind heart. She was always willing to help others. She will be missed extremely by everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jose Ricardo Mojica. Those left to cherish the memory of Licha are her two sons, John Espinoza and wife Linda of Lockhart, Texas, and Fred Ramon Espinoza and wife Gina of Abilene, Texas; her daughter, Margarita and her husband Daryl of San Marcos; three granddaughters, Theresa Alicia, Adrian Payne and Valerie; six grandsons, Johnny, Angelo Rene, Gilbert, Elijah, Ezekiel and Sebastian; one sister, Natalia Mojica Salazar of Lubbock; seven brothers, Blas Mojica Jr. and wife Maria De la Luz, Guadalupe Mojica, Cresencio Mojica and wife Amy, Basilio Mojica and wife Rosa, Jose Antonio Mojica and wife Delia, Edward Mojica and wife Ivon, and Leonardo Mojica and wife Theresa; and numerous nephews and nieces.
