G.C. "Buddy" Lawson Jr., 82, of Athens, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at River City Rehab in Decatur.
Mr. Lawson was born November 9, 1929, in Limestone County, to Grover Cleveland Lawson Sr. and Bessie Black Lawson.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today, February 25, 2012, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with Bill Irby and Charles Thompson officiating.
Mr. Lawson was a member of Tanner Church of Christ. He was a retired farmer and founder of Lawson Trailer Court for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Bessie Lawson; son-in-law, Marc Shores; and two sisters, Mary Frances Lawson and Annie Laurie Haaker.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Brooks Lawson of Athens; son, Grover C. Lawson III and wife Vicki Haney Lawson of Sardis, MS; daughter, Nancy Lawson Shores of Athens; five grandchildren, Nicholas Lawson Shores and fiancee Helen Johnson of Huntsville, Heather Shores Jarmon and husband Phillip of Athens, Hannah Lawson Peters and husband Ben of Birmingham, Julie K. Lawson of Oxford, MS, and Skyler Haney Lawson of Sardis, MS.
