Edward Pershing Abrams, Sr., was married to Helen Thrower on September 12, 1942. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a navigator/bombardier, and was awarded the Air Medal for his combat service in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Mr. Abrams was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant for over 40 years, during which time he served in many leadership capacities. He was also active in Habitat for Humanity from its early beginnings in Greensboro, as well as the Shepherd's Center, the O-Henry Golden Kiwanis Club and Meals on Wheels.
