From the Faribault Daily News, Aug. 1, 1953:

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. for Thomas E. Tharalson, 66 year old farmer of the High Prairie community. Rev. Otto Mostrom of Northfield conducted the service, in the absence of the regular pastor, Rev. B. J. Blikstad, at the Wangen Prairie church. Interment was at the Wangen Prairie cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bennie and Reuben Johnson, Peder Wangen, Harold Husbyn, Donald Berg and Theodore Frettem. Mrs. Olaf Frettem sang "Friends Of Jesus In Their Parting" and "All The Way My Saviour Leads Me." Mrs. Siemer Loven Sr. was the organist. Thomas E. Tharalson was the son of Berhaug and Ellen Tharalson, born in the Webster community of Rice county on March 7, 1887. He received his schooling in that area and was married to Betsey Berg, of that place. Mrs. Tharalson died in 1939. Mr. Tharalson was a cancer victim and did not rally after surgery at a Red Wing hospital. His death occurred on Monday, July 27. He had farmed in the High Prairie area for over 30 years, and was a member of the Wangen Prairie Lutheran congregation. Surviving are: Clifford Tharalson, a foster son, and four sisters, Mrs. August Rapp, Minneaplis; Mrs. Lewis Johnson and Mrs. Mary Hanson, Northfield and Mrs. Emma Barber of California. A number of relatives attended the funeral.
