Jimmie Darrell Farmer, 65, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at his home. Born in Trumann, he had lived in this area his entire life. He was an electrician and loved working with his son. He had retired but still continued to work until the day he became ill. He liked to fish, but his love was his family, and he adored his four grandchildren.

Jimmie had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of two years, Tammy Tate Farmer of the home. She describes the past two years as the best of her life. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Doyle and Tammy Farmer; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ronnie Coots; and stepson, Derek Osborn, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Bobby Joe Farmer of Trumann, Kenneth Dewayne Farmer of Jonesboro, Frederick Forest Farmer of Trumann, Lankford Denton Farmer of Hamilton, Ala., and Curtis Martin Farmer of Jonesboro; his grandchildren, Matthew Farmer, Holly Farmer, Ariel Coots and Mayzee Coots; and special nephew, Jeff McElrath. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Denton and Lola Mae Duncan Farmer; and a brother, J.R. Farmer.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Temple Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Jolly and Alan Rogers officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Army personnel will provide military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Brumley, Larry Johnson, Hubert Brodell, Dale Barnett, Jim Copeland, Andy Ritzmon, Johnny Damron and the staff of TEC Electric.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Allen Nixon and the NEA Baptist Cancer Treatment Center.

For lasting memorials, the family requests that consideration be given to Temple Baptist Church, 2405 Stadium Blvd., Jonesboro 72401.
