Keith Corbett passed away Thursday February 23, 2012 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Born December 9, 1926 in Grace, Idaho to Daniel Hans Corbett and Zetta Condie Corbett, Keith was the oldest of five children. The day after his 18th birthday, in December 1944, Keith joined the US Navy and was aboard the USS Maryland enroute to Japan when World War II ended. Keith attended ISU for one year before returning to Grace to work at the Utoco Petroleum Bulk Plant. Keith was a member of the LDS Church where he served on various callings. On November 11, 1962 Keith was married to Sharon JoAnn Corbett. Their marriage was sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 8, 1997. Keith, Sharon and their three children moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in the spring of 1964 where Keith worked for AMOCO as a regional sales representative until the age of 50. At that time, Keith began a successful career working independently to build and manage a commercial office building and retail store in Sheridan until moving to American Falls, Idaho in 1980 where he and Sharon owned and operated Corbetts department stores in American Falls and Aberdeen until his retirement in 1990. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family, many friends and wonderful neighbors. He also loved the game of golf. Keith is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon; his three adoring children, son Gregg Smith, wife Judy and grandchildren, Natalie and Julia of Novato, California; son Mark Smith and grandchildren Gordon and Connor of Eureka, California; daughter Shelley Smith and husband Keith Connolly of Ballard, Washington; sisters Karen Ruth Thomas and Kathleen Baldwin and brother Lewis Kent Corbett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:00 am in the LDS Ward builiding, corner of 42 Princeton Ave. Pocatello. The family will receive friends from 9-9:45 am Saturday at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the animal shelter or your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home.
