WIDOW OF LATE MAJOR E. ADAM DIES, AGED 77
Mrs. Mary Adam, 77 years old, widow of the late Major Emil Adam, died at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Merck, 106 North Douglas avenue. She had been failing in health for some time and took dangerously ill Sunday evening.
Mrs. Adam was born January 24, 1838, at Alton, Ill., the daughter of Christopher and Gertrude Hill. She was married to Emil Adam, June 13, 1858. Major Adam served in the Civil War and remained in the service for many years afterward, until retired. He achieved distinction in war with the Indians in the West. He died Jan. 20, 1903.
Surviving are the following children;
Edward H. Adam, in Montana
Emil P. Adam, in Montana
Mrs. Lulu A. Merck, of Belleville
Mrs. Marie Kirby of Asherville, N.C.
Otto Adam, of the Hoerr-Adam Shoe Co. in Belleville
The deceased was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
